Behind the Scenes at the BPL: Rebecca Hunt, Research Services Reference Librarian

Meet Rebecca Hunt, a Reference Librarian in the Research Services Department! Rebecca's specialty is in the performing arts, and she is based at the Central Library in Copley Square. This post is part of our "Behind the Scenes at the BPL" blog series featuring just some of the humans that keep Boston Public Library running.

Where are you from? Where were you before you came to the Boston Public Library ?

I am from Wisconsin. Before I started working for the Boston Public Library in 2018, I had worked at Berklee College of Music as a reference librarian and before that, the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore when I was a reference librarian in their Fine Arts and Recreation department.

What do you do in your job day-to-day?

Day-to-day, I answer reference questions in person and via email, and I especially love questions about music and musicians. I also order books on music and printed music for both the circulating and research collections of the Central library.

What is your favorite resource at the Boston Public Library?

My current favorite resource at the library is Hoopla, because not only does it have a ton of music to listen to, but it also has access to medici.tv (live performances and recorded content from prestigious halls worldwide for classical and jazz music) as a binge pass.

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is cheese!

What are you passionate about outside the library?

Outside of work, I'm passionate about fiber arts. I knit, spin yarn, dye, sew, embroider, and even weave a little bit.
