On Tuesday, April 4, the Libby app will undergo a system update. You may be required to verify or re-log in to the Libby app.
There will be a banner on the Libby page and site that will take you to a help page with verification.
Potential Challenges
- If you do not remember or mistype your PIN, you may get caught in a “verification loop” and need to remove your library card from the Libby app and re-add it. If you forget your PIN, here are instructions on how to reset your PIN.
- If you have library collections of other networks (CLAMS, SAILS, NOBLE, Old Colony, CW MARS, Minuteman, and Merrimack Valley Library Consortium) linked to Libby you will have to login and verify each one of these collections again. Overdrive recommends that you remove these collections and re-add them as a best practice to avoid creating duplicate libraries.
Important Notes
- Your checkouts and holds are tied to your card number, not your device, so removing your library card does not cancel your checkouts or your place in line. Your items will reappear on your Libby shelf when you re-add the card.
- Do not uninstall the app, as this can permanently delete reading history and tags on certain models of phone and tablet.
Adding Partner Library Cards
As a reminder, you can add your card to a partner library across the state of Massachusetts (CLAMS, SAILS, NOBLE, Old Colony, CW MARS, Minuteman, and Merrimack Valley Library Consortium) and search holdings and borrow titles that may be available at other libraries.
Making the Switch to Libby
On May 1, 2023, the OverDrive app will be discontinued. Read more from OverDrive on this change.
