A guest post by Guy Harris, a Librarian at the Boston Public Library.
Spring has returned, and with it comes our 3rd year of seed kits for gardeners. The Resilient Gardening Kits originally started as a streamlined way for branch libraries to convert their seed library supplies into ready-to-go kits for folks to pick up at their branches during the early months of the pandemic.
Each kit has a preselected assortment of 8-10 seeds, in one of two themes:
- The original Resilient Gardening Kits, to grow herbs and vegetables for cooking
- The supremely popular Herbal Wildflower Kits, with an assortment of flowers that double as pollinators with home uses
Each of the following BPL Branch Libraries will have both kits to choose from starting the first week in May:
- Connolly
- Egleston Square
- Mattapan
- Parker Hill
- South Boston
- (List updated as of 5/31/22)
Supplies are limited, so please visit a location close to you as soon as you can! View a list of all BPL Locations.
Finally, we’d love to hear from you about your gardening. If you are sharing stories and pictures on social media, please consider using #BPLSeedKits to help us find them. Have a great growing season!
A great thanks to Johnny’s Selected Seeds for providing us with a majority of our selections.
