Safe Place
Boston Public Library
The Central Library in Copley Square and our twenty-five branches are all members of the Safe Place program. Safe Place quickly connects youth ages 12-17 to needed help of safety and shelter through our partnership with Bridge Over Troubled Waters.
About Safe Place
Youth can approach any established Safe Place site, which includes the Central Library in Copley Square and our 25 branches, recognizable by a yellow diamond logo.
To use TXT 4 HELP, text the word “safe” and your current location (city/state/zip) to 4HELP (44357). Within seconds, you will receive a message with the closest Safe Place site and phone number for the local youth agency. You will also have the option to text interactively with a professional for more help. It’s quick, easy, safe and confidential.
If you prefer to speak with someone on the phone, instead of in person or texting, you may call the National Runaway Safeline at 1-800-RUNAWAY (1-800-786-2929).
